"It is a question that many people running, including me. So seems the only problem is that regardless of the older iPod (before the current line) is a hybrid USB and Firewire uses pin Dock Connector iPod load, so it's a FireWire or USB cable can be used to recharge the iPod. Thus, most of the accessories have been on the market for load older iPod over FireWire pins because it first uses FireWire iPod. Apparently Apple has told businesses in the past two years, it is the support for FireWire charging iPods end. So, this line of iPods are not compatible with FireWire more, and an accessory that will charge via FireWire does not charge. For me, I have the Bose SoundDock will not charge you for my new iPod Touch. There is a new portable SoundDock Bose SoundDock II, or online because it is built outside the new Apple USB is loaded on the website.

All new accessories are made to new specifications for the Apple store, but not really help the elderly, the new devices and iPods. It will solve a third party adapter for around $ 30 that this problem. Here's a I've seen a few cheaper market coming soon ...

I fear that not much help here can be, but I had a problem very similar, only he and iHome stereo when I'm heated quickly linked the two and could could really smell of hot plastic. I have not tried since, and the iPod is new and I think I could take Apple store and ask. So I'll let u know if I have an answer. Btw I still work as well, but if it hurts idk battery or not.
